Who We Are

Emerge Nevada Candidates

Betty Hicks has been a resident of Washoe County for 34 years and has volunteered in her community in a variety of ways. She has represented the children in Washoe County's Family Court system over two years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), mentored a student at Hug High School, has been a alternate member of the East Washoe Valley Citizen's Advisory Board nearly one year, and has been cooking for the homeless at Tent City in Reno since January.

Diana Alba began working at the Clark County Clerk's Office in December 1985 as a District Courtroom Clerk for Department XVI. During the next 15 years she accepted positions of increasing responsibility, working her way up through various supervisory and management positions. In November 2000, Shirley Parraguirre appointed Diana to be the Assistant County Clerk, a position Diana held for nearly nine years. Sadly, Shirley Parraguirre passed away on August 30, 2009. The Clark County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed Diana to fill the unexpired term on September 15, 2009.

Emerge Nevada Women in Office

After completing her Emerge program last year, she said the training "gave me the confidence and knowledge to run - from all the nuts and bolts to announcing your candidacy, raising funds, and speaking before a small or large crowd."  Her campaign is already off to a great start, with several successful fundraisers and a mention of support from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at the local Asian American fundraiser in her community!

Cindy Olivas Trigg is the daughter of a Korean combat Veteran, wife of a Vietnam combat Veteran, mother of a college graduate who is entering the US Navy. She is a retired flight attendant and current President of the Douglas County School Board. At all points, she has proven that she can and will work with others to get results.
