Betty Hicks has been a resident of Washoe County for 34 years and has volunteered in her community in a variety of ways. She has represented the children in Washoe County's Family Court system over two years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), mentored a student at Hug High School, has been a alternate member of the East Washoe Valley Citizen's Advisory Board nearly one year, and has been cooking for the homeless at Tent City in Reno since January.

Diana Alba began working at the Clark County Clerk's Office in December 1985 as a District Courtroom Clerk for Department XVI. During the next 15 years she accepted positions of increasing responsibility, working her way up through various supervisory and management positions. In November 2000, Shirley Parraguirre appointed Diana to be the Assistant County Clerk, a position Diana held for nearly nine years. Sadly, Shirley Parraguirre passed away on August 30, 2009. The Clark County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed Diana to fill the unexpired term on September 15, 2009.

Ellen Barre Spiegel is the first Democrat to represent Henderson's Assembly District 21 in a generation. In addition, she is the first Democratic woman to ever represent Assembly District 21!

Gloria Sturman is a partner and a member of the Advocacy & Litigation Practice Group of Buckley King LPA. Her practice focuses on insurance defense, employment discrimination, civil rights, ADA, professional liability, personal injury defense, premises liability, construction defect, municipality defense, and healthcare.

Irene was raised in the farming community of Kerman, California, the second of five children. From an early age, Irene's parents taught her the value of hard work, dedication and perseverance. Academically, Irene excelled and her dedication to her studies led her to the University of California at Fresno to pursue her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Irene worked her way through school serving in several capacities, including as a student assistant for the football team. To this day, Irene is a proud Fresno State Bulldog.

Julia was born, raised and educated in Sparks. She and her husband James choose to make their home near Victorian Square and enjoy working on their 1950s home. Julia owns a small business located on Victorian Square in the heart of Ward 1.

Commissioner Kitty Jung was appointed to the Washoe County Commission by Governor Gibbons. As a Washoe County Commissioner, Kitty considers public safety to be her number one priority. She is committed to ensuring that law enforcement and other public safety agencies have access to the resources they need to serve and protect her community. She also believes that responsible and sustainable development is crucial in order to maintain and improve the quality of life in Washoe County.

Laurie Bisch has been been patrolling the streets of Clark County for the past sixteen years as a member of the Las Vegas Police Department. Her experience as an active police officer has given her the necessary vantage point to have a true, unfiltered understanding of what the community needs are when it comes to Public Safety and Crime Prevention.

Lynn Goya grew up on a dairy farm in eastern Iowa where she learned the values of hard work, honesty and standing by your word. After graduating, she moved to Long Island, commuting to New York City to work in the basement of the Empire State Building. A few years later, she moved west and attended San Diego State University. She graduated cum laude with B.A. degrees in English and Economics and won the department's highest award, the Frederick L. Ryan Award in Economics.

Michele is the Assistant Director in the County Assessor’s Office, where she has worked for 12 years.
